La Moustache

La Moustache was a traveling exhibition of drawing based works which began its tri-city tour in Montreal Canada and traveled to Toronto then on to Brooklyn, NY.

La Moustache brings together a diverse group of international artists for a fun visual foray into the prickly world of the moustache curated by Ryan Ringer of Me Thinks Presents.

La Moustache

mus·tache also mous·tache   (mŭs'tāsh', mə-stāsh')

The hair growing on the human upper lip, especially when cultivated and groomed.

1. Something similar to the cultivated, groomed hair on the human upper lip, as:

a. A group of bristles or hairs about the mouth of an animal.

b. Distinctive coloring or feathers near the beak of a bird.

c. Food or drink sticking conspicuously to the upper lip: wiped the milk mustache from my face.

As you know the moustache exists throughout the ages and reinvents itself in many styles: Fu Manchu, Handlebar, Walrus, Toothbrush and the Pencil, among others. The moustache has had many nicknames: nose neighbor, flavor saver, lip tickler and, of course, the infamous stache.

The moustache can be waxed and shaped, combed and trimmed; they can be curly, fuzzy, tobacco-stained, long, stubby, short and thick. There are also countless moustaches of great fame and notoriety, like those of Friedrich Nietzsche, Edgar Allen Poe, Salvador Dali, Albert Einstein, Groucho Marx, Charlie Chaplin, and Frida Kahlo, among others.
