The annual 6x6 International Exhibition at the Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo) has become a staple in the art world, drawing thousands of art lovers and collectors every year.
This year was no different, and artist Allan Linder’s participation with his new Money Flow series made waves once again. For the fifth consecutive year, Linder’s work was part of this unique show, which has become a sold-out success each year.
Money Flow – A Four-Part Exploration of
Economics in Art
Money Flow is a compelling series of four abstract paintings that examine the intricate forces driving the global economy. Allan Linder explores the cyclical nature of wealth, commerce, and financial influence through layered mixed media, using a fusion of physical currency, marketing materials, and sculptural elements.
Each 6 x 6-inch artwork deconstructs and reimagines economic principles through a dynamic visual language of color, texture, and form.
Each painting incorporates cut-out $100 bills in U.S. currency, serving as both a symbol of value and a commentary on the material power of money. Circles, representing cycles, movement, and continuity, are painted around real coins from six countries, highlighting the interconnectedness of global markets. At the heart of each piece, a small human sculpture stands within the concentric circles, embodying the human impact of financial shifts and decision-making. The dominant chartreuse and green hues reinforce the undeniable presence of money in every aspect of life.

The 6x6 exhibition is an annual fundraiser for RoCo, offering small works by artists from around the globe, with each piece measuring exactly 6 by 6 inches. It’s a concept that democratizes art, allowing established artists and newcomers to have their work displayed side by side. With Linder’s longstanding career and reputation as an internationally recognized artist, his involvement has been a highlight of this show.
